CLEAR SPIDER

Clear Spider is a cloud-based inventory management software based out of Mississauga, ON. They are a B2B, SaaS company that works with over 100,000 different companies of various sizes and industries.

MY ROLE: As the co-op marketing associate, I was tasked with a variety of responsibilities. Though marketing research was one of them, I also ran Clear Spider’s social media and blog, writing weekly industry related topics of my choosing. Additionally, I did a lot of design work, creating graphics for blog posts, infographics, white papers, and even designed a landing page. Design was my strongest skillset coming in, therefore many of the projects I worked on were design related.

WHAT I LEARNED: Being that this was my first “real” job in my field of interest, I learned a lot about working in a corporate setting and about myself.

In terms of work, I gained more knowledge about marketing strategies. I was tasked weekly to conduct market research and figure out different ways to increase lead generation and improve Clear Spider’s online presence. As well, I got to learn how to use Google Analytics and Google Ads and used live company data to back up my research. This helped me come up with company specific solutions in regard to lead generation, competitive analysis and social media strategies.

However, the biggest takeaways I got from this experience was learning about my own work ethic. I found that in the beginning, I struggled with time management and communication. Two skills that I prided myself on, but found that I was lacking in the most. Having to adjust from a student work pace to a corporate work pace proved to be a little tough at the beginning. But with feedback from my co-workers and manager, I was able to implement it and improve my overall performance and productivity throughout the term.
